The Mediterranean • Eat & drink • Compartir in Barcelona, Spain
Located in the trendy Eixample neighbourhood of Barcelona, Spain, Compartir is the latest culinary venture of three former colleagues from the renowned El Bulli restaurant: Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas, who are also the masterminds behind the two-Michelin-starred Disfrutar in the same city. The restaurant offers a tapas-style dining experience that blends traditional Catalan flavours with contemporary twists, featuring an ever-changing menu of sharing plates. The interior, designed by El Equipo Creativo, creates a cosy and laid-back atmosphere with abstract paintings, curved mirrors and light wicker screens. The open kitchen allows diners to watch the chefs at work, and the restaurant can accommodate up to 80 guests across three warmly decorated rooms.
Compartir’s menu includes a selection of hot and cold oysters and tapas-style plates that are perfect for sharing. Some standout dishes include ’Palo Cortado’ Galician razor clams with asparagus and codium seaweed, Iberian ham croquettes with red tuna and tomato and Ebro delta mussels with a tarragon Béarnaise sauce. The rustic bread basket is a must-try, and for dessert, the hazelnut coulant and crème brûlée foam with strawberries and orange sorbet are highly recommended.
Compartir offers an extensive drinks menu, including a variety of wines, beers and cocktails. The restaurant’s wine list features a selection of Catalan and Spanish wines, as well as international options. Guests can also choose from a range of craft beers, both local and international. Compartir Barcelona’s signature cocktail is the ’Gintonic de Compartir’, made with premium gin, tonic and fresh herbs. The restaurant also offers a range of non-alcoholic drinks, including mocktails, fresh juices and homemade lemonade.
