The Mediterranean • Eat & drink • Sky’s the limit: Barcelona’s 5 ultimate rooftop restaurants and bars
Barcelona has a skyline that highlights the Gaudí spires, the port and the Mediterranean in a new light and there’s no better way to take it all in than from above. Cocktails, tapas, music – they all hit differently when you’re suspended above it all, watching the light bend across rooftops and towers. Here, design, food and atmosphere collide in a way that makes you pause, look around and really feel where you are. These rooftops are small worlds of their own, daring you to slow down, look around and see Barcelona differently. Here are the rooftops where being above it all comes with good food, good drinks, and the right mood.

Set atop the iconic Las Arenas, the former bullring turned shopping centre near Plaza España, 11 Nudos Barcelona delivers Atlantic-inspired gastronomy. From here, you can take in sweeping 360° views of the city. At 11 Nudos Barcelona you can pick between three moods. There is the interior lounge, climate-controlled terrace and an open-air deck. The menu has a lot of Atlantic influences, with dishes like grilled octopus, surf-and-turf paella and 100% Iberian pork, all made from premium ingredients. Their drink menu doesn’t hold back either. Signature and classic cocktails share the spotlight with artisanal beers and a well-rounded wine list.

Set on the 8th floor of the boutique Almanac Hotel, Azimuth Rooftop Bar is as much about the view as it is about the vibe. You’ll spot La Sagrada Familia, the Gothic Quarter and Montjuïc from its panoramic terrace – day or night. Jaime Beriestain Studio transformed a pair of old townhouses into an urban observatory. Complete with art-deco curves, deep burgundy banquettes and dense plants that carve out intimate lounges under the sky. The mixology program embraces celestial themes, with cocktails named for zodiac signs. Innovative blends and in-house creations bring the night sky to the palm of your hand. Since 2024, the food offering mirrors that ambition. A world-street-food concept that threads fresh, local ingredients through dishes like pad Thai with prawns, pork tacos with pineapple or vegetarian kimchi-mayonnaise kebabs.

Looking for ocean views? Azul Rooftop Barceloneta – Chef Romain Fornell’s modern Mediterranean project – delivers on all fronts. Situated in the Barceloneta neighbourhood, this rooftop offers 360° panoramas over sea and city, with indoor lounges, a sunny terrace and cosy loungers. Led by Chef Romain Fornell (with Simone Giorgani in the kitchen), the menu is Mediterranean done with flair. Sharing plates, fresh fish, old-school seafood and rice dishes and flame-kissed meats all shine under his gastronomic vision. Many dishes nod to tradition, while others bring fire and creativity – like the grilled rodaballo. Evenings shift gear with Afro and deep-house beats, but even during the day the vibe is relaxed and scenic, with loungey music and cocktails flowing.

High atop Hotel Claris in Eixample since 1992, La Terraza del Claris was one of the first hotel rooftops in the city – a history you sense when you step in. The décor is deliberately discreet – greenery, subtle lighting and glass panels that frame the panoramic views over Eixample. Michelin-level chef Aurelio Morales leads a kitchen rooted in seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Standout dishes include the eco tomato salad with tuna belly and a river-delta rice with smoked eel and Prat artichokes. While the restaurant earns high praise, the rooftop bar is equally compelling. Served by legendary mixologist Daniel Madeddu, it offers cocktails like the Fresh Sling, made with Ketel One, St. Germain and Grand Marnier.

La Dolce Vitae is the Majestic Hotel’s rooftop terrace and is one of Barcelona’s best-known skyline terraces. The menu here is shaped by Michelin-starred Nandu Jubany, with executive chef David Romero steering execution in the kitchen, always finding ways to combine innovation and Mediterranean tradition. The terrace was renovated in 2019 by Antonio Obrador and now features plush seating, vertical gardens and the always-central rooftop pool. In summer, the Majestic Sunset Sessions with international DJs turn the terrace into a stylish open-air evening lounge where cocktails flow. It’s the go-to for those who want glamour, gastronomy and sunset views all in one.
