Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin Auvergne-Rhones-Alpes France hotel review

Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin

Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin sits at the top of Courchevel 1850, one of the French Alps’ most established ski resorts, and marks Rosewood’s first step into alpine hospitality. The position is direct and uncompromising: ski-in, ski-out access in the Jardin Alpin, with the slopes setting the daily rhythm. Inside, 51 rooms and suites are supported by a generous spa, all-day dining with terrace, a bar lounge, cigar room and kids club. The transformation of the former site is led by French designer Tristan Auer, shaping a contemporary mountain retreat grounded in Rosewood’s Sense of Place philosophy. It is the brand’s second property in mainland France after Hôtel de Crillon in Paris and a confident move into high-altitude territory.

Hotel Folie Paris Île-de-France France hotel review

Hôtel Folie

Deep velvet, feline prints and burr wood set the tone in Paris’s 11th arrondissement, where Hôtel Folie runs like a mischievous aunt’s townhouse with a bar licence. It’s part of Orso Hotels’ Colomba collection, with interiors by designer Giovanna de Bosredon of Auguri Auguri. The hotel has 43 rooms, each styled with antiques and animal motifs, plus careful soundproofing for proper sleep. Days start with coffee and something homemade by the fireplace. Nights end under the subdued lights of the leopard bar.

Hôtel Massé

In Paris’s 9th arrondissement, a family-run Haussmann building became Hôtel Massé in 2025, framed as an intergenerational refuge in Pigalle, on a quieter side street. Rooms are pared back and individual, set up for living like a local. Trente Paris is the in-house bar for cocktails and small plates, plus a 100 square metre glass-roofed space for private hire and events with rooftop views. A compact fitness room has a rowing machine, bike, bench with free weights and yoga mats. Breakfast and concierge support are part of the deal. The area is nicknamed SoPi, a nod to New York.

Hôtel Amista Marseille Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur France hotel review

Hôtel Amista

Hôtel Amista sits in Marseille neighbourhood Noailles, a short walk from the Old Port and the Canebière. The former Hôtel Saint-Louis was redesigned by Ginto Hotels as a 24-room house, with 19th-century stonework, wrought-iron balconies, lion heads and gargoyles. Interior designer Dorothée Delaye mixes travel finds, vintage mirrors, wooden chairs and bold textiles. Many rooms have balconies or roof terraces for a glimpse over the city. Downstairs, Louison breaks the stiff hotel-restaurant mould, run with The Small Group trio Laura Vidal, Harry Cummins and Julia Mitton. Coffee comes from La Tisserie. Expect eggs cooked to order, homemade brioche and granola, panisses with aioli, terrine with pickles and a Pastagnol aperitif.

Hôtel Les Roches

Perched above the bay of Aiguebelle, Hôtel Les Roches has been part of the Riviera’s visual memory since 1930. Reopened in July 2025, it now operates as a 40-room hotel that reads like a ship anchored in pine and rock, facing open water. The revival is led by Delphine André of Les Barmes de l’Ours, with architecture by Jean-Baptiste Pietri, favouring stone, concrete and terrazzo over ornament. Rooms are conceived as cabins, all with sea views. Dining centres on L’Oursin, where Michelin-starred chef Antoine Gras cooks Mediterranean produce, and a rooftop langoustine table. A Sisley spa sits below, cut into the cliff. Art is integral with works by Ma Desheng, Arman and Yves Klein woven into daily circulation.

Villa Miraé

Villa Miraé doesn’t try to reinvent the Riviera and that’s the point. Set above Garoupe Beach on Cap d’Antibes, the former Impérial Garoupe has been pared back to a 35-room hotel that values proportion over drama. Acquired by Inwood Hotels and reopened in 2025, the building was reworked by Oscar Lucien Ono, who replaced decorative nostalgia with stone floors, Roman tiles and custom mosaics that read modern without denying place. Dining is overseen by Mauro Colagreco, split across two restaurants with different tempos. This is a Riviera hotel for repeat visitors who prefer calm to confirmation.

La Fondation

La Fondation’s building, designed by architecture firm PCA-Stream, stands as an exposed concrete structure with brutalist accents and large panoramic windows. Roman & Williams Interiors has draped those austere lines in soft linen window treatments and punctuated stark walls with playful, locally sourced artworks. Upstairs, the hotel has 58 rooms – including three suites – that feel fresh and full of personality. You might spot a terrazzo basin in one, a velvet armchair in another. Nothing’s too polished or too predictable – every detail feels handpicked. Brasserie La Base on the first floor is the go-to spot for elevated bistro classics and espressos. Come evening, the eighth-floor bistronomic restaurant shifts gears with modern, vegetable-forward dishes paired with city views. And don’t miss the rooftop bar, a must for sunset cocktails over the rooftops of Paris.

Hotel Experimental Maris Paris Île-de-France France hotel review

11/3

Experimental Marais

Paris has no shortage of beautiful hotels, but Experimental Marais isn’t trying to impress with grandeur – it’s here to make you feel at home, in the most distinctly chic way possible. Set in a 17th-century hôtel in the heart of the Marais, this flagship hotel from the Experimental Group is everything the brand does best: impeccable taste, a buzzing social heartbeat and cocktails so good they’ve redefined drinking culture. French designer Dorothée Meilichzon has woven together textures and tones that feel both effortless and intimate – arched doorways, sculptural lighting and a warm, intimate palette of mustard, deep green and soft neutrals. The real soul of Experimental Marais lives in its bar and bistro. By day, the restaurant serves classic produce-driven French dishes. By night, the dimly lit cocktail bar fills with locals and in-the-know travellers. The drinks? Pure alchemy – elegant, unexpected, always a little playful.

Hotel Le Soleia Nice Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur France hotel review

10/3

Hôtel Le Soleia

Nice has no shortage of Riviera nostalgia, but Hôtel Le Soleia keeps its distance. Set in the city centre, within walking reach of the Promenade des Anglais and the Old Town, it works as an urban base rather than a coastal fantasy. Interiors by Oscar Lucien Ono reinterpret Riviera Art Deco with restraint. Curved sofas and low lounge seating form relaxed groupings, while a soft palette of sand, stone and warm greys is layered with ribbed fabrics, woven textures and marble. Lighting stays ambient and low, and the bar feels social rather than dominant. Rooms follow the same logic: compact, calm and designed for city living.

Le Jardin de Verre by Locke Paris Île-de-France France hotel review

25/2

Le Jardin de Verre by Locke

Situated at 7 Rue Lacépède in Paris’s 5th arrondissement, Le Jardin de Verre by Locke transforms two 16th-century Baroque mansions and a 19th-century industrial works into a 145-unit aparthotel. Fettle Design Studio has layered Haussmannian touches – stone floors, high cornices and intricate mouldings – with exposed steel beams and lush plants to conjure a glass garden in the Latin Quarter. The rooms feature botanical-inspired accents against a soft, natural palette. The heart of the property is a triple-height atrium restaurant flanked by a café-bar called Bibi and an open-air courtyard, all framed by verdant greenery. You’ll also find a yoga studio in a vaulted annexe and co-working lounges sit alongside a 24-hour gym.

Hotel Élysée Montmartre

Hotel Élysée Montmartre opened in early 2025 after the venue was rebuilt following a 2011 fire. This hotel comes with a serious creative pedigree. It was brought to life by producer Abel Nahmias and architect-entrepreneur Julien Labrousse and sits squarely between two of Paris’s cultural landmarks – the storied Trianon theatre and the iconic Élysée Montmartre concert hall. The renovation was led by Policronica, a Paris-based studio known for their thoughtful use of materials. Here, they leaned heavily on eucalyptus wood to create custom furnishings that feel both warm and grounding. The 16 rooms and duplex suites embrace a Wabi-Sabi sensibility – simple, tactile and perfectly imperfect. Expect natural wood, raw stone, soft linens and a sense of stillness that contrasts beautifully with the city just outside your window.
