Regina Experimental Biarritz

At Regina Experimental Biarritz, we’re drawn not just to its architectural grandeur and whimsical design touches by Dorothée Meilichzon but also to the unique blend of old-money elegance and contemporary flair. Located atop a Biarritz cliff, this Henry Martinet masterpiece from 1907 marries maritime charm with art deco sophistication. Its sprawling atrium, punctuated by totemic sculptures and delicate paper lanterns, sets the stage for an ambiance where history meets modernity. The allure extends to the guest rooms, where geometric headboards and marine motifs invite us into a world of refined relaxation. Our journey is also culinary, led by Chef Gregory Marchand’s Frenchie restaurant, where Basque influences are masterfully intertwined with his signature flair.

Le Garage Biarritz Hôtel

Le Garage in Biarritz, transformed from an old car garage into a 27-bedroom hotel, is a creation of the Experimental Group, blending luxury with a touch of retro fun. Just a 10-minute walk from the beaches and the town centre, its location is conveniently close yet peaceful. The hotel’s style mixes bright colours with Art Deco and industrial elements for a unique holiday vibe. The large garden pool is a standout, perfect for cooling off or joining in on the lively social scene with brunches and DJ sets. Inside, the rooms mix modern tech with funky retro designs and bathrooms featuring stylish terrazzo. The dining experience is casual and delightful, especially the pastries from Noisette, which are our favourite treat, making breakfast or any meal here something to look forward to.

Hôtel du Palais Biarritz

Hôtel du Palais in Biarritz stands as a majestic reminder of its origins as a summer retreat for Empress Eugénie. Its prime location above the Grande Plage offers breathtaking views of the ocean, encapsulating the elegance of a bygone era. With its Belle Époque architecture, the hotel wraps guests in luxury, from its opulent rooms to the grandiose public spaces adorned with high ceilings and chandeliers. Amenities include a sumptuous Guerlain spa and pools with expansive sea views. The guestrooms combine plush comfort with sophisticated décor, making for a regal stay. Dining at Villa Eugénie offers a Michelin-starred experience of French and Basque dishes, while Hippocampe provides a more casual setting. Yet, amidst its undeniable splendor, the formal dress code and atmosphere might make us ponder if it leans towards being overly traditional at times.

Hotel de Silhouette

Hôtel de Silhouette, set in one of the town’s most historic buildings, offers a delightful contradiction with its modern interiors. Situated right opposite Les Halles, it’s perfectly placed for us to wander and soak up the local vibe, tempted to pick up a thing or two from the bustling market. Inside, the hotel, revamped under Patricia Ibanez’s keen eye, blends minimalistic elegance with touches of luxury, like marble countertops and chic pendant lights. We’re particularly drawn to the decor details, so much so, we’ve joked about swiping a piece or two for home. Each of the 21 rooms has its unique flair, offering views that range from the serene garden to the bustling city and the vast ocean. Luxuries like Nuxe toiletries and iPod docking stations add comfort to the aesthetic pleasure. The continental breakfast is a treat with pastries from Maison Miremont, and the seasonal restaurant’s simple menu, enjoyed on a terrace overlooking the garden, is a joy.

Hôtel de La Plage

Hôtel de la Plage in Biarritz, freshly refurbished in spring 2022, merges the charm of a boutique hotel with the soul of its legendary past. Each of the 20 rooms is a masterpiece of style and comfort, decked out in trendy decor that speaks to the hotel’s commitment to uniqueness. We’re particularly fond of the small store within the hotel, a treasure trove of items from local and international artists and designers. It’s here you can find everything from hats and candles to exclusive surfboards emblasoned with the hotel’s logo, perfect for those looking to ride the Biarritz waves in style. The Rooftop is another highlight, offering stunning views over the ocean and city. From early buffet breakfasts to late-night tapas and cocktails, it’s a spot we find ourselves returning to, time and again, for its breathtaking scenery and vibrant atmosphere.
