The Mediterranean • Stay • The 5 best boutique and luxury hotels in Rhodes, Greece
The Macedonia region in Greece has no shortage of history, but Rhodes carries it in a particularly vivid way. In between the ancient ruins and coastal villages, a new wave of boutique and luxury stays has taken shape, offering something more thoughtful than the standard resort formula. Many are independent, design-driven and deeply tied to their surroundings, whether through restored stonework, regional menus or stories passed down through the owners’ families. This is a place where hospitality feels hands-on and personal but still polished. In this guide, we’ve picked stays that really reflect the character of Rhodes – not just where to sleep, but where the details matter, the design feels intentional and the atmosphere leaves a mark.

Set against the dramatic Tsambika mountain, Casa Cook Rhodes masterfully bridges traditional Grecian allure with contemporary chic. Architect Vana Pernari’s vision has the hotel naturally blending with its surroundings, a silent nod to sustainable luxury. The rooms mix minimalist concrete and warm wood, each with a terrace and, in some cases, a private plunge pool. Furnishings include woven straw pouffes, retro chairs and open-plan bathrooms. Rooms cluster around low-key shared pools, giving a laid-back social feel. Dining is split between Kitchen Club (all‑day Mediterranean meals) and Olive Restaurant & Bar, which focuses on seafood and lighter fare. You’re also near Tsambika and White Rock beaches – each less than two kilometres away.

More Meni City Beach – formerly Cook’s Club City Beach – is an adults-only beachfront boutique stay right on Elli Beach. The minimalist building has 18 spacious rooms with sea‑view terraces, clean lines and bespoke furnishings. You’ll find a ground‑floor restaurant serving simple, Mediterranean‑style plates – fresh salads, grilled fish and homemade pastries – and a rooftop pool bar where you can watch the sunset over the water. You’ve got the run of the place here – think garden lounge for lazy afternoons, a spa when you need a reset, proper buffet breakfasts and a tennis court if you’re feeling sporty.

Casita Casita Lindos is a hillside adults-only hideaway in Lindos, converted from an old nightclub into a seven-suite boutique guesthouse by architect Vana Pernari in 2019. Built into the hillside, it uses local stone, timber and handmade furnishings and each suite has a private terrace with views of the Lindos Acropolis and the Aegean Sea. The scale is intimate – no big pool, no spa – but that’s part of the appeal. If you want a very intimate, design-led stay with character, hillside views and close walking distance to Lindos village and beaches, this place delivers.

Rodos Park doesn’t rest on reputation – even after 20-plus years of hosting travellers, it’s still evolving. A recent redesign brought a lighter, more contemporary feel to its Renaissance-style gardens and terraced pool area while keeping that laidback, old-world charm Rhodes does so well. Rooms are elegant without trying too hard, many with private balconies facing the mediaeval city walls or palm-filled gardens. Food is taken seriously here. You’ve got La Brasserie for relaxed, waterside dining, Il Parco for slow lunches under the olive trees and the Galaxy Roof Lounge Bar when cocktails and sunset views are calling. Executive Chef Konstantinos Vasileiou keeps the menu grounded in local produce – expect Aegean mussels steamed in white wine and salads that taste like they were picked that morning.

Right in the heart of Rhodes Town, Elakati Luxury Boutique Hotel is an adults‑only escape with just eleven rooms – each one with its own personality. The name Elakati refers to a traditional Greek spinning tool and woven design motifs echo in the décor. Rooms are named after elements of the island – like Elafos, Gerani and Vrachos – and dressed in colours pulled straight from the Greek landscape – olive greens, terracotta reds and Aegean blues. You’re a short walk from Elli Beach and the island’s main shopping streets, but if you’d rather roll than stroll, the hotel has bikes you can borrow. Breakfast is à la carte and heavy on the Greek goodness – honey, yoghurt, fruit – all served in a sun-drenched lounge filled with plants.
