Stay by area: our top hotel picks in Montmartre, Paris

The curated list of best hotels in Montmartre, Paris

The north of Paris, in the Île-de-France region of France, has long been a magnet for travellers looking for something a little different. And Montmartre, set in the 18th arrondissement, doesn’t feel like the rest of Paris – and that’s the point. Maybe it’s the hilltop views or the sound of a piano floating through an open window. Maybe it’s the way the cafés spill out onto the cobbles like they’ve always been there. Whatever the reason, this part of Paris moves at its own pace – and choosing the right place to stay is key. In this guide, we’ve picked our favourite boutique hotels that channel the energy of the neighbourhood in their own way.

Maison Souquet

Maison Souquet opened in 2015 in a former Belle‑Époque luxury brothel that originally launched in 1905. Located on Rue de Bruxelles, this 5-star hotel was designed by Jacques Garcia to highlight its history. There are just 20 rooms, including six suites and two apartments, each dripping in opulence and inspired by different periods and styles – from Napoleon III elegance to Indian, Chinese and French 18th-century themes. Think velvet drapes, patterned silks and rooms that feel like private salons. Some even have access to the secretive Salon d’Eau, a spa space with its own pool, hammam and massage room. While it feels hidden, everything’s close by. There’s also a restaurant, a bar-lounge perfect for unwinding and a deli for casual bites. Romance, history and high design meet here – quietly and with a wink.

Hôtel Particulier

If lush privacy and boho elegance speak to you, Hôtel Particulier is your sanctum. Hôtel Particulier sits behind an unmarked gate on Avenue Junot, inside a former Hermès family mansion built in the 1940s. It now holds just five suites, each designed with a dreamlike sensibility – think velvet walls, mirrored ceilings, leopard print, sculptural lighting and surrealist touches that blur the line between dream and design. The property is surrounded by a 900-square-metre private garden designed by Oscar Comtet, which supports biodiversity with sparrows, robins and blackbirds. There’s a bar set in a glass conservatory and a restaurant that feels more like a salon than a dining room. It’s all a bit elusive – in a good way. You’re close to the Sacré-Cœur and the buzz of Montmartre, but up here it’s more about lived-in studios and old wine bars than glossy cafés and guided tours.

Hotel Élysée Montmartre

Hotel Élysée Montmartre opened in early 2025 after the venue was rebuilt following a 2011 fire. This hotel comes with a serious creative pedigree. It was brought to life by producer Abel Nahmias and architect-entrepreneur Julien Labrousse and sits squarely between two of Paris’s cultural landmarks – the storied Trianon theatre and the iconic Élysée Montmartre concert hall. The renovation was led by Policronica, a Paris-based studio known for their thoughtful use of materials. Here, they leaned heavily on eucalyptus wood to create custom furnishings that feel both warm and grounding. The 16 rooms and duplex suites embrace a Wabi-Sabi sensibility – simple, tactile and perfectly imperfect. Expect natural wood, raw stone, soft linens and a sense of stillness that contrasts beautifully with the city just outside your window.

Môm’Art Hotel

Môm’Art is a locally run hotel that feels like a passion project in the best way. It’s owned by a family with deep ties to the neighbourhood and you can feel it in the details. The property sits a few steps below the Sacré-Cœur on Rue d’Orsel and has been reimagined with help from Parisian architect Jacques Mechali. Rooms are themed around Montmartre’s artistic legacy, from playful nods to Toulouse-Lautrec to illustrations by modern French creatives. There’s a small spa, a courtyard terrace and a restaurant headed up by French TV chef Grégory Cohen, who brings a laid-back flair to bistro-style plates. We love how quiet the hotel feels, even though you’re right next to the Sacré-Cœur.

Artemisia Montmartre

Artemisia is one of the newest additions to Montmartre’s boutique scene. Following a full renovation, it opened with a strong identity rooted in Parisian Art Deco and Art Nouveau. The building itself is from the 1920s and the design team has leaned into that heritage with curved wood, retro tilework, sculptural lighting and dusty rose tones throughout. There’s a sense of softness across the 30 rooms – many of which offer courtyard views or small balconies. Downstairs, you’ll find a bar, lounge and small spa area with a sauna and jacuzzi. The location makes it easy to explore both Montmartre and the 9th arrondissement, which is full of good bistros and wine bars if you know where to look.
