The Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence, or Matisse Chapel, exemplifies Henri Matisse’s artistic and spiritual legacy. Situated in Vence, this chapel was created between 1947 and 1951 for Sister Jacques-Marie, formerly Matisse’s nurse. Adorned with Matisse’s stained glass windows, ceramic murals and liturgical vestments, the chapel is a masterclass in colour and light. Key highlights include the Stations of the Cross and the Madonna and Child. In 2021, the Prada Foundation restored the chapel, preserving its artistic and spiritual significance. The serene space inspires contemplation and admiration for Matisse’s integration of art and faith.
